Method for determining the sound pressure level of noise generators (5) in reflection free space at a fixed position relative to the sound generator. Method uses a housing (1) that at least partially encloses the sound generator and a sound receiver (6) both of which have fixed locations in the measurement space formed by the housing. The sound pressure level is measured for at least one frequency and a conversion value is used to convert the measured level into a reflection-free sound pressure level. The invention also relates to a corresponding device.
