The present invention relates to nucleic acid primers specific for the 16S rRNA gene of <i>Streptomyces</i> spp. and to their use for the detection of <i>Streptomyces</i> spp. in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based assay. The invention also relates to diagnostic kits for the detection of <i>Streptomyces</i> spp. in samples.
