Method of destroying organic pollutants in a solid, semisolid or liquid matrix, comprising the following steps: - taking the matrix to be depolluted from the system it belongs to; - inletting said matrix into an atmosphere, comprising Oxygen, at a total pressure lower than or equal to the atmospheric one; - treating with radiofrequency (RF) radiations to ionize the Oxygen, thus forming a plasma; - oxidizing with the ionized Oxygen the organic pollutants present in the matrix to be depolluted, the surface thereof being kept at a <450 DEG C temperature; - discontinuing the destroying treatment; and - optionally, returning the depolluted matrix to the system it belongs to. The invention also refers to plants suitable for carrying out this method.
