The method is used for guiding a motor vehicle towards a target. The computing system includes a data processing unit (120) that determines a route from a start point to an input target destination and outputs directions to an output unit (140). If an identified route is frequently travelled directions are only given if the vehicle leaves the calculated route or the data processing unit receives information referring to an obstacle such as traffic jam on the route being traveled.
