The system has an electronic controller electrically connected to the injection system and configured to deliver a computed electronic control signal and a camshaft with a profile mechanically connected to a cam follower driven to produce a first pressure in the injection device sufficient to overcome a pressure threshold at defined intervals to inject a defined volume during a fuel shot of an injection event with several shots. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: a camshaft for use with an inventive system and a method of ensuring a fuel injection system injects a defined volume of fuel during a fuel shot.
