Method in which a microprocessor system, comprising two CPUs (1, 2) on the same chip carrier and associated peripherals (5, 7) to which the processors made read-write accesses, uses two different algorithms for safety critical and uncritical, i.e. comfort, functions. An Independent claim is made for a microprocessor system in which the CPUs access the peripheral elements (5-10) via bus systems (3, 4) with associated bus software drivers (19) with which information can be transferred from one bus to the other bus. An address comparator (18) is used by the bus drivers to control data transfer between buses.
