The stationary brake (1) has a pivoted brake lever (2) and an associated bowden cable device for operation of a wheel brake. A conversion drive between the brake lever and the bowden cable device is provided by a cogwheel (9) or spline, cooperating with a cog segment (14) which is pivoted in conjunction with the operation of the brake lever. The elements of the conversion drive are first brought into engagement with one another upon initial movement of the brake lever for application of the stationary brake.
