New nucleic acid that binds to staphylococcal enterotoxin B, useful for treating and diagnosing e.g. septic shock, identified by the SELEX method

Nucleic acid (I) that binds to enterotoxin B (Eb) of Staphylococcus, especially S. aureus, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) preparing and/or identifying nucleic acids (Ia), particularly (I), that bind to an Eb-derived target molecule; (2) preparing L-nucleic acid (Ib) that binds to an Eb-derived target having the natural configuration; (3) complexes of Eb, especially from S. aureus, and (I); and (4) kit for detecting Eb, especially from S. aureus, that comprises (I).
