In a continuous polymerization process, a homogeneous mixture of 85-90% by weight acrylonitrile, 6-9% vinyl acetate and 4-6%α-methylstyrene is continuously introduced into acidified water in a polymerization reactor and polymerized therein, the reaction product being continuously withdrawn from the reactor. In an example, the polymerization is effected with a K 2 S 2 O 8 /Na 2 S 2 O 5 initiator; the polymer product is dissolved in ethylene carbonate/water (75 :11) and extruded into filaments having improved dyeability.</p> |
