A transport device for conveying pages to a printing press has at least one suction band or tape movable over a table, at least one suction chamber arranged under the table for sucking air through the suction band/tape so that pages on the tape/band are sucked and carried along the table to the printing press. A pressure reducer lowers the pressure within the suction chamber and an air pressure control device controls the pressure reducer in relation to information regarding the pages inputted into the air pressure control device, in order to set/adjust the reduction of the air pressure in at least one suction chamber.
