<p>Disclosed is a slide valve (10) suitable for very high temperature service, having a liner of refractory material and a wedging system with wedges (22) wedging a disc (18) against an orifice plate (16). The slide valve (10) is also desirable for use under lower temperatures as the wedge system firmly wedges the disc (18) into stable sealing engagement with the orifice plate (16), closing the orifice (16) under flow conditions.</p> |
