Device for automatic harvesting of asparagus

The harvester for plants grown in flat beds or ridges consists of a straddling chassis with a mobile frame (10) fitted with vertical feelers (21) set side by side in the form of a comb with their lower ends on a level with the soil. The feelers, comprising vertical rods on a horizontal shaft (20), have gaps of only about a millimetre between them to prevent plants passing through, and they move to the rear on making contact with a plant, sending a signal to a picking tool (30). The signal stops the machine while the picking tool moves on a transverse carriage (18) to the position of the plant and picks it.
