A METHOD OF MAKING A CARTRIDGE FOR SAMPLING BLOOD

A method of making a cartridge for sampling blood comprising providing a cartridge case with a port 120B and installing in the cartridge case a lancet 106B having a tip 122B such that the lancet tip is shielded in the cartridge case and that the lancet can be driven to extend the tip from the cartridge case for lancing the skin of a patient. The cartridge case may have a chemical being reactive with blood deposited on part of it 124 which is in communication with the port via a channel through which blood can be drawn by capillary forces from the port. Cartridge cases comprising a compartment for receiving blood and an absorbent surface 110B, a heating pad 113B and which may possess an analytical region and a retractable lancet are also described. Methods of using the cartridges are also described.
