FIELD: equipment for filtering of gases and/or vapors. SUBSTANCE: aerosol filter has casing accommodating filter elements arranged from filter medium in zigzag with separators located between filter medium folds. Filter elements are successively installed in casing and formed of layers of fibrous filter medium of various density. In this case, the first layer of filter medium in direction of polluted air flow is formed of coarse-fibrous material with fibers sizing 5-10 mcm and with low density of packing of not more 0.04. The second layer is formed from fine-fibrous material with fibers size of 0.2-0.4 mcm and high packing density not more 0.25. EFFECT: considerable increase of aerosol filter service life due to its increased dust-trapping capacity without reduction of filtering efficiency. 7 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl
