<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of precisely judging a failure of a vehicle speed sensor without erroneous judgment. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device comprises an electric motor 8; a vehicle speed detecting means (vehicle speed sensor) VS; a shift state detecting means for detecting the shift state of a vehicle, an engine speed detecting means (engine speed sensor) ES; and an electric motor control means (control device) 12 for controlling the drive of the electric motor 8 on the basis of the output from the vehicle speed detecting means VS, and the electric motor control means 12 comprises a failure judgment means (vehicle speed sensor failure judgment part) for judging the failure of the vehicle speed detecting means VS on the basis of the vehicle speed, shift state and engine speed. When the state having an engine speed of prescribed speed or more is continued for a judgment continuous time in the state where the vehicle speed is 0 and the shift state is a vehicle driving state and/or a first judgment elapsed time is integrated, the failure judgment means 21 judges the failure of the vehicle speed detecting means VS.</p> |
