PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform neutral resetting of a steering mechanism in high responsiveness without impeding straight driving stability. SOLUTION: A detection result of steering torque, a steering angle, and a car speed, is taken in, in the case that detected torque T is out of dead band torqueΔT, a reference drive current I0 calculated based on this detected torque T is corrected in accordance with the steering angle and the car speed to set a drive current I, and a motor 4 for steering assistance is driven by this drive current I. While in the case that the detected torque T is in the dead band torqueΔT, when a detected steering angleαis a dead band steering angleΔαor more, a compensation current I1 is set based on this detected steering angleαand, the motor 4 for steering assistance is driven by this compensation current I1 to assist neutral resetting. |
