PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a good image can be formed by suppressing variation of beam profile. SOLUTION: LED chips 28A and 28B arranged with a row of light emitting elements 30 in the main scanning direction are arranged zigzag on the opposite sides of the center line 36 of a lens array 24. More specifically, when main scanning is performed using the light emitting elements 30 arranged zigzag at a pitch equal to the radius of the lens, only a flat region where variation of beam diameter incident to main scanning is suppressed most can be used and since variation of beam profile is suppressed, an image having high image quality can be formed through simple correction of the quantity of light.
