PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance dehydration efficiency by making effective use of the whole filtration surface of a screw press type dehydration device, and dispense with the cleaning of the filtration surface. SOLUTION: The screw press type dehydration device is provided with an outer cylinder l having a drainage screen 1d as a filtration surface, an inner cylinder 2 demarcating an annular space 5 between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and a ribbon screw 4 provided between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and on the upper end of the outer cylinder, an input port 6 is provided. By rotation of the ribbon screw, while sludge mixture inputted in the annular space from the input port moves to the discharge port 10 of the lower end of the annular space, the dehydration is effected. On the input port side, a large amount of filtrated liquid is discharged from the sludge admixture, flowed down along the drainage screen, and by this filtrated liquid, solid matter discharged from the sludge mixture onto the discharge screen on the discharge port side is washed away.
