On depression of a button 37 of a multiple push-button switch, a latch plate 77, pivoted on a spindle 71 and normally biased against a cam surface 68 of the button by springs 81 is tilted and latches the button 37 depressed by engaging a cam surface 66 thereof (Fig. 3). When another button is depressed it tilts latch plate 77 to release the latched button. Simultaneous operation of any two buttons is prevented by cam sliders 86 located in a housing slot 88 of a length greater than the combined length of the sliders by an amount to receive a projection 94 of only one button between the sliders (see Fig. 7). Each plastics button 37 has stops 41, 44, guide ribs (47, Fig. 6), and a return spring 62 mounted in a cavity and retained by a guide post 58. The plastics housing mounts an independent on-off switch (23, Fig. 1) and comprises a cup-member 25 closed by a removable contact board 32. Board 32 mounts contacts 100 co-operable with contact blades 110, on depression of a button 37, by means of a portion 40 thereof, blades 110 being interconnected by a resilient conductor 103 (see Fig. 4). |
