PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an abnormal shadow candidate at a desired detection level by simple operation in the case of detecting the abnormal shadow candidate. SOLUTION: An abnormal shade candidate detector 10 is provided with a detection level selection means 12 capable of selecting the desired detection level and an abnormal shade candidate detection means 13 for detecting the abnormal shadow candidate at the detection level selected by the means 12. The means 13 consists of a candidate area detection means 13a for detecting the candidate areas of an abnormal shadow, a malignant shade detection means 13b for additionally detecting only malignant ones of the candidate areas and a benign/malignant shadow detection means 13c for additionally detecting benign/malignant ones in the candidate areas. |
