PURPOSE: A shock absorbing guide rail is provided to reduce an amount of shock to be applied to a car and a loss of lives by improving an effect of buffer thereof in a case of a car collision. CONSTITUTION: The guide rail installed along the side edges or the center line of the street is basically constructed by fixing a steel or aluminum made guide plate(100) to a H-shaped steel pipe post with bolts and nuts, and additionally, a buffer plate(30) capable of absorbing shock generated in a car collision is closely attached to the one surface of the guide plate. The buffer plate comprises a plurality of arch shape projected portions(32), flat recesses(34) between the projected portions, and buffer portions(33) repeatedly projected from the front side of the arch shape projected portions to define a buffer space therein.
