PURPOSE: An optical repeater having a transmission diversity function is provided to divide a transmitting signal transmitted from a base station to a mobile station into the first and second signals, adjust the second signal so that the second signal has the time difference over one chip as to the first signal, and transmit the first and second signals to the mobile station. CONSTITUTION: A master unit(240) transmits a transmitting signal from a base station(200) through an optical cable. A slave unit(250) has a forward signal processing unit for dividing the transmitting signal received from the master unit(240) through the optical cable into the first signal and the second signal, and a transmission diversity unit for adjusting the second signal so that the second signal has a uniform time difference as to the first signal. The slave unit(250) includes the first transmitting and receiving antenna(252) for transmitting the first signal to a mobile station(210), and the second transmitting and receiving antenna(254) for transmitting the adjusted second signal to the mobile station(210).
