PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the long life of a solid high polymer fuel cell by preventing the deformation and the breakage of an ion exchange membrane. SOLUTION: A cell 10 which is formed by arranging an anode 12 and a cathode on the central portion of an ion exchange membrane 11 is sandwiched by cell plates 20, 30 in which anode gas channels and cathode gas channels 31 are provided. This is conducted as inserting collectors 40, 41 and fillers 79, 80 onto the central portion, and sealing materials 50, 60, onto the outer peripheries. The cell plates 20, 30 are fastened, and simultaneously the materials of the fillers 70, 80 are compressed so that a fuel cell 1 is manufactured. Since the filters 70, 80 are filled in the gaps of the ion exchange membrane 11 and collecting materials 40, 41 between the anode 12 and the outer periphery of the cathode and the sealing materials 50, 60, the deformation and the breakage of the ion exchange membrane 11 are prevented in the fuel cell 1. |
