PURPOSE: An anti-hypertension agent containing probenecid as an active ingredient is provided, thereby effectively treating hypertension without adverse effects. CONSTITUTION: An anti-hypertension agent contains probenecid as an active ingredient, wherein the anti-hypertension agent is administered orally or nonorally; the daily dose of probenecid is 0.1 to 1000 mg/kg, preferably 1 to 100 mg/kg; the LD50 of the probenecid is 1.6 g/kg; the anti-hypertension agent for oral administration is formulated into pellet, capsule, solution, syrup and suspension; and the anti-hypertension agent for nonoral administration is formulated into abdominal injection, hypodermic injection, intramuscular injection, and transdermal injection.
