An electrical cable junction box having a box section [10] with at least two spaced-apart closure formations [14] and a lid [40] with at least two corresponding spaced-apart closure formations [42]. Each closure formation [14] on the box section [10] includes a sloping surface [16] which is arranged to engage, in a camming fashion, a sloping surface [44] on one of the corresponding closure formations [42] on the lid [40] when the lid [40] is placed on the box section [10] and rotated relative to the box section [10], thereby to releasably engage the lid [40] on the box section [10] in a closed condition. The electrical cable junction box also includes a locking lug [20] on the box section [10] and a corresponding locking lug [50] on the lid [40] for locking the lid [40] to the box section [10] in the closed condition. There is also provided a step [18] which is located at an end of one of the closure formations [14] on the box section [10] to prevent overtightening of the lid [40] on the box section [10]. In a further embodiment, a gasket or sealing ring [24] is located in a groove [26] in the box section [10]. When the lid [40] is placed onto the box section [10], the gasket or sealing ring [24] is compressed between the lid [40] and the box section [10] to ensure a seal therebetween. |
