A kit for converting a diesel engine to an Otto-cycle engine running on gaseous fuel, eg compressed natural gas, comprises air inlet means 2, gas feeding means 3 and flow regulating means 4. The air inlet means 2 is a hollow piece with an air inlet 5 and a venturi section 2'. The gas feeding means 3 is a hollow piece eg with two passages 10, 11 in communication with the venturi section 2' and each having a gas feeding tube (14, fig.4) with a long exit groove (15, fig.4B) for injecting gas into the cylinder. The flow regulating means 4 comprises a plate 4' having two holes 18,19 coinciding with the passages 10, 11 and receiving regulating means 20 in the form of throttle plates 21 fixed to a common operating element 23. The plate 4' is attached, in use, to the air inlet manifold 24 of the engine being converted. Central branch 42 of the manifold 24 may be of smaller diameter than the longer outer branches 43 for equal feeding. A piston for use in the engine has an innermost groove 30 communicating with an oil passage 31 for lubricating the piston and an oil return passage 29.
