Cordless cellular system, method and computer program product

A base station coupled to a cellular telephone network and a public switched telephone network supports a dual mode telephone. The base station initially registers with the cellular network. When a mobile telephone set that is operating over the cellular network detects the base station it de-registers from the cellular network and switches to providing cordless landline services. The base station redirects calls made over the cellular network that are directed to the mobile telephone.
