PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for deaerating a molten resin which can increase the temperature of the resin on the interfaces between bubbles generated by the foaming of water added into the resin and the resin and in the vicinities of the interfaces in a screw extruder for deaerating the molten resin at a higher speed a compared with a conventional deaeration method and apparatus, reduce the length of the screw extruder, and improve aeration efficiency and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: In the method and apparatus for deaerating the molten resin, an agitation zone 5 for agitating the molten resin including the bubbles generated by the foaming of water is formed downstream from the water dispersion foaming zone 4 of the screw extruder 1, the resin including the bubbles is agitated in the agitation zone 5, and then the volatile components in the resin are removed in a deaeration zone 6 downstream from the agitation zone 5.
