PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve low costs and a high durability by simplifying the structure of a ribbon shift mechanism. SOLUTION: A ribbon cartridge 42 for storing an ink ribbon is set to a carriage 19 having a recording head 18 loaded thereto. The ribbon shift mechanism 45 of a recorder for inclining the ribbon cartridge to the recording head to shift a position of the ink ribbon to the recording head has an inclined rail 50 set with an inclination in a shift direction of the ink ribbon along a nearly entire range in a movement direction of the carriage, and a compression spring set to the carriage for generating an urging force for holding the ribbon cartridge along the inclination of the inclined rail by pressing an upper end projection 47 of the ribbon cartridge to the inclined rail.
