PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating composite material low in heat conductivity at the time of non-seating but becoming high in heat conductivity at the time of seating. SOLUTION: In the heat insulating composite material obtained by laminating a surface layer, a composite fiber layer and a back surface layer in this order, the air permeability of the surface layer and the back surface layer is not more than 20 ml/cm<2> .sec and the composite fiber layer comprises composite fibers wherein main fibers having high heat conductivity are crosslinked by binder fibers.
