<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which reduces a burden on an endoscope operator by reducing the size and weight of the endoscope main body. SOLUTION: In an endoscope system consisting of the endoscope main body and a peripheral device connected to this endoscope main body and constituting a part of the endoscope system, a flexibility varying mechanism for varying the flexibility of the flexible tube of an insertion part is provided on the endoscope main body, the driving source of this flexibility varying mechanism is provided on the peripheral device, and a transmission driving mechanism for operating the flexibility varying mechanism receiving driving force from the driving source is provided on a connector part for connecting the endoscope main body and the peripheral device.</p> |
