PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving type garbage treatment device which is provided with a control function using three-dimensionally arranged temperature sensors and capable of (1) being operated so as to cause a garbage mixture containing microorganisms to become an active medium, while effectively utilizing heat generation due to activity of the microorganisms, and (2) performing the moisture content measurement of treated garbage through analyses of control signals of a heating means so as to eliminate the need of adding any hardware for the moisture content measurement. SOLUTION: In this garbage treatment device provided with temperature sensors 35, 36 and 37, the operation of the device is divided into three operation states, namely, a treatment mode, a moisture content adjustment mode and a stop mode on the basis of the differences of temperatures measured by the temperature sensors 35, 36 and 37 from each other and the shift from one of the three modes to another is performed by utilizing information obtained from a temperature control means, to control the operation of the garbage treatment device.
