PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing leftover food and a garbage truck used for the same free from the propagation of bacteria during transporting the leftover food, and capable of easily preventing the propagation of bacteria, and efficiently processing the leftover hood at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this method of processing the leftover food 10 by collecting and transporting the leftover hood 10 to a waste disposal center 4 by a garbage truck 2, and processing the leftover food 10 at the waste disposal center 4, the garbage truck 2 transports the collected leftover food 10 in a state that a temperature in a container 3 is controlled to 50-80 deg.C. The temperature is controlled by circulating an exhaust gas discharged from an engine of the garbage truck, into a heating pipe mounted in the container 3.
