PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of an electric power steering capable of realizing an excellent steering feeling even when a steering wheel is started to turn slowly. SOLUTION: This controller of the electric power steering comprises a means for determining a base assist current value based on an output from a torque sensor for detecting the steering torque of the steering wheel and an output from a vehicle speed sensor for detecting a vehicle speed, a means for calculating a torque differential current value obtained by multiplying a gain by a value obtained by dividing the differential value of the output from the torque sensor by a value equivalent to the rotating angle of the steering wheel per unit time, and a means for calculating a motor target current value supplied to a motor drive circuit for a motor to provide an assist torque to the steering wheel by adding the torque differential current value to the base assist current value.
