PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectacle lens periphery machining method and device that uniform changes in a specific chamfer width along a spectacle lens outside circumference direction while ensuring a proper size of chamfering. SOLUTION: Lens chamfer grinding by a spectacle lens grinding machine whose relative position of a grinding wheel rotation axis and a lens rotation axis is controlled by a computerized numerical controller(CNC) uses a chamfering device having a chamfering wheel with two or more abrasive grinding surfaces tm1 and tm2 of different inclination anglesθm1 andθm2 for either a spectacle lens front face or a rear face. Either abrasive grinding surface of the two or more abrasive grinding surfaces tm1 and tm2 is selected according to a curve value of a spectacle lens Rem, and the selected abrasive grinding surface tm1 , tm2 is used to grind or chamfer a front corner portion or a rear corner portion of an outer circumferential end face of the spectacle lens Rem.
