PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive garbage treatment device by reducing the size of the constituent parts of a solid waste discharge section and integrating these parts having reduced size. SOLUTION: This treatment device comprises: a garbage receiving vessel 1 which is used for receiving garbage and has a discharge port 24; a shutter 28 for opening/closing the discharge port 24; a rack 29 fitted to the shutter 28; a motor 32 which is used for opening/closing the discharge port 24 and the output shaft of which is fitted with a pinion 33; a detection means 41 for detecting the opened or closed state of the discharge port 24; and two operation means 42 and 43 for operating the detection means 41 for detecting the opened or closed state of the discharge port 24; wherein since whether the discharge port 24 is opened or closed is determined by the rotational direction of the motor 32 and operation of the detection means 41, the opened or closed state of the discharge port 24 can be detected only by the one detection means 41. Thus, the objective small-sized inexpensive garbage treatment device can be obtained.
