PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water container capable of easily and accurately measuring the water quantity necessary for the generation of smoke, a smoke- generating device using the water container, a compact water container to enable easy and sure setting of a cylindrical smoke-generating device on the bottom of the water container while holding the device with fingers, a smoke- generating device using the water container, a water container safely usable without causing the damage of the floor and a smoke-generating device using the water container. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a water container of a smoke- generating device to generate smoke by contacting with water and provided with a stepped part at the water-measuring level of the lower part of the container body or thereabout, a water container having a cross-section having nearly square form, preferably a nearly square form having a side length of the outer circumference of >=18 mm and a water container having a base protruded from the bottom, preferably a plastic base having a height of >=2.5 mm.
