PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a catalyst supporting Pd, Rh and Ba to sufficiently exhibit the catalytic performance of each metal element. SOLUTION: In the catalyst, a Rh-supported powder supporting at least Rh and a Ba-supported powder supporting at least Ba are contained in a mixed state, and at least a portion of each of Rh and Ba are supported in a state separated to each other, and Pd and Ba are supported in a coexistent manner with the same porous powdery carrier. Thereby, the acceleration action of Ba on the poisoning of Rh by oxygen is inhibited and the inhibition action on the function of Rh is avoided. Further, the sintering of Pd is suppressed because Pd tends to be made palladium oxide by Ba. |
