The device for measuring a radial contact force between an elastic seal (3) and a shaft (1) around which the seal is fitted involves displacement components for movement of a contact component (4) against the inside of the seal in a nominal position. Measurement devices measure the movement of the contact component and force measurement devices (6) measure the force which in the nominal state is effective on the contact component. A hole extends radially to the outside of the shaft, in which the contact component can be moved backwards and forwards in a radial direction.
