PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance ink jet head which can form good images with few density irregularities. SOLUTION: A head substrate 1 having many heating resistor 3 applied and arranged linearly in a horizontal scanning direction to an upper face of a base plate 2 formed of a single crystal silicon and, a nozzle member having many ink discharge holes corresponding to the heating resistors 3 are arranged in a manner to form a predetermined gap, and ink is filled in the gap in the ink jet head. The ink jet head carries out a recording operation while circulating the ink to flow on many heating resistors 3 in a vertical scanning direction. A plurality of ink supply ports 1a for introducing the ink from the side of a lower face of the head substrate 1 between he head substrate 1 and the nozzle member are arranged and formed nearly parallel to the arrangement of the heating resistors 3. Moreover, the upper face of the base plate 2 between the ink supply ports 1a is raised into a shape having one end extended in a flow direction of the ink.
