<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain colored aggregate that is colored by beautiful red-based color at a quite low cost. SOLUTION: This red-based colored aggregate is produced by firing aggregate size arenite or rhyolite under oxidizing atmosphere to convert the contained iron component into Fe2 O3 imparting red-based color to the aggregate. This method for producing red-based colored aggregate comprises a step of forming crushed rock gallet obtained by crushing an ore containing 1.5 wt.% or more of iron component in order to color the surface of the aggregate into red-based color by adding a binder which disappears in the firing step, and a step of sintering the formed body obtained by the forming step under oxidizing atmosphere to convert the contained iron component into Fe2 O3 for red-based coloring.</p> |
