Slightly basic anion-exchangers consist of a matrix to which are linked aminoxide gps and quaternary ammonium gps. The matrix is pref. macroporous and consists of a monovinyl aromatic cpd. pref from styrene, vinyltoluene, vinylnaphthalene or vinylpyridine pref. crosslinked by divinylbenzene, trivinylbenzene or ethylene glycol dimethacrylate: the matrix may also have carboxylic acid gps. An anion-exchanger with t-amine gps is treated with oxidising agent, pref. H2O2 or a peracid to oxidise the t-amino gps to aminoxide gps. Pref. the t-amino gps. are not all oxidised and those not oxidised are quaternised. These anion-exchangers show very little swellings. They are partic., suitable for treating galvanising effluent. |
