Cellulosic materials, especially paper, are coated with a composition which provider release properties and consists essentially of: (A) 100 parts by weight of a dimethylsiloxane based formulation which is curable to an elastomer, and (B) 0.5 to 45 parts by wt. of a toluene soluble polymer of (I) R 3 SiO¢ units and (II) SiO<SP>4</SP>/2 units the ratio of I : II being from 0.6:1 to 1.1:1 and the silicon bonded OH content of (B) is not more than 0.7 % of its wt. R is methyl or ethyl. The coated composition is cured at 105-205 ‹C. (A) is preferably a mixture of liquid dimethylpolysiloxane having at leasttwo silanol groups per molecule and having a viscosity of at least 1000cs. at 25‹C. Examples relate to the coating of glassine paper.</p> |
