1,126,499. Securing handles on shafts. OTTO GROSSSTEINBECK G.m.b.H. 20 June, 1967 [23 June, 1966], No. 28340/67. Heading F2U. A door handle 3 is axially positioned on a square spindle 1, having ratchet teeth 2, by a locking leaf spring 4 having a wide central part located in an undercut groove (14) in the handle (Fig. 3, not shown) and narrower ends (13, 12), (Fig. 2, not shown) the former of which engages the ratchet teeth 2 whilst the latter bears against the spindle 1, the spring 4 being formed integrally with a square ring 10 which engages over the spindle 1 and retains the spring 4 to prevent loss thereof on removal of the handle 3 from the spindle 1, the spring ring 10 being slightly distorted so that it cannot be easily displaced on the spindle 1. A grub screw 7 in the handle passes through the spring 4, presses the spring against the upper walls of the undercut, axially positions the spring and provides means for releasing the handle. |
