PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing porous sintered compact of metal fiber is provided which reduces environmental pollution and inexpensively produces a large amount of the porous sintered compact of metal fiber by using metal fiber recovered from waste metal fiber, and an apparatus for recovering the metal fiber is provided. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for recovering the metal fiber comprises a pulverizer(10) for pulverizing waste metal fiber in a lump shape; a vibration dryer(30) comprising an inlet(31) in which the waste metal fiber passing the pulverizer(10) is flown, an outlet(32) from which the waste metal fiber is flown out, a spiral path that is installed between the inlet(31) and the outlet(32) in the vibration dryer(30), a vibrator(34) which is installed at the lower part of the vibration dryer(30) and a heating unit(35) for heating, wherein the vibration dryer(30) removes grinding oil from the waste metal fiber; a magnet separator(50) for separating metal fiber and metal powder from the waste metal fiber flown out from the outlet(32); and at least one or more mesh nets(60) for collecting the metal fiber separated by the magnet separator(50) per sizes, wherein the apparatus further comprises a cooling unit that is connected to the vibration dryer(30) to recover the grinding oil again by cooling thus liquefying grinding oil evaporated, and a vibration transfer unit(40) that is installed between the vibration dryer(30) and the magnet separator(50) to transfer the waste metal fiber to a direction of the magnet separator(50) and weaken coherence between the metal fiber and grinding powder at the same time.
