Screening method for identifying inhibitors of lipoprotein lipase, useful in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, particularly for treatment of fatty deposits in the skin

Screening compounds for activity in lipolysis by incubating test compounds with a triacylglycerol and lipoprotein lipase (and its co-factor), then measuring inhibition of fatty acid release, is new. Screening compounds for activity in lipolysis by incubating test compounds with a triacylglycerol (TAG), lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and co-factor for LPL for long enough to cause some release of fatty acids (FA) from TAG, is new. The inhibition of FA release caused by LPL in presence of test compound is measured and the results are compared with those for LPL in absence of test compound or in presence of a known, reference inhibitor.
