PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cord shape resistor that is capable of obtaining stable exothermic characteristics without having breakage of the metal resistance wire even in the case where an outside stress such as complicated bending is inflicted, and that is suitable, for example, as an exothermic wire material of a seat heater that heats the seat of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This is a cord shape resistor that has a resistance conductor of a structure formed in a cord shape by braiding a plurality of fiber bundles. Out of the plurality of fiber bundles that constitute the resistance conductor of the string-shape braided structure, at least part of the fiber bundles of one of the clockwise rotation or counter-clockwise rotation uses a metal resistance wire, and the other direction rotation fiber bundles use an insulating fiber.
