PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage box utilizing a thermoelectric element which comprises a refrigerating/warming mode and embodies freezing function in a refrigerating mode. SOLUTION: A storage compartment 14 is cooled primarily by the main thermoelectric element 20 and kept in refrigerated conditions, during operation in the refrigerating mode. Therefore, the surrounding temperature difference between both sides 61, 62 of a sub-thermoelectric element 60 of the sub-storage box 50 which is disposed in the compartment 14, is considerably small, even if the heat changing system is taken into consideration. Because of such a multistage cooling system, cooling capacity of the element 60 disposed in the storage box 50 is improved significantly. Accordingly, the temperature of a storage space 52 of the storage box 50 is kept below zero for effective freezing of food items. Since the storage box 50 is mounted detachably in the compartment 14, it can be dismounted therefrom and separately used in a motor vehicle or the like.
