PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool the iron core of a rotor, without making the rotor large-sized. SOLUTION: An armature comprises the iron core 2 of the rotor, which is arranged coaxially in a rotor shaft 4, end plates 3, which are arranged at both sides of the iron core 2 in axial direction to nip the iron core 2 and for transmitting the toque between the iron core 2 of the rotor and the rotor shaft 4, a cooling path 5, which is formed between the outer periphery of the rotor shaft 4 and the inner surface of the iron core 2 of the rotor, and path 6a to 6c leading a refrigerant to the refrigeration path 5 via the rotor shaft 4.
