PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a refresh operation so that time to initialize a semiconductor memory or the like is cut down. SOLUTION: When initialization data are written, for initialization, in a volatile semiconductor memory module 41 which is accessed by specifying a column address CA and a row address RA and executes the refresh operation by row, with a column address being fixed as a predetermined value i, a row address is successively generated in descending order, the initialization data are written in every memory cell ((1) to (2)) in the column i, then the column address is advanced stepwise, and the initialization data are written similarly ((3) to (4)). In this manner, because the refresh and writing are performed simultaneously during the data writing, it is unnecessary to refresh separately and the time to initialize can be cut down.
